VEDAS and SCRIPTURES ,handed down from generations to generations over the ages.Inspired by the unique lessons learnt at the feet of his Guru Sri Swami TAPOVAN MAHARAJ of Uttar Kashi and impelled by the selfless love for humanity, Swami Chinmayananda left the lofty heights of Gangotri in May 1951 and like Mother Ganga , came down the plains to share the the practical Rishi Wisdom with the masses . Soon the ever increasing number of devotees formed the CHINMAYA MISSION ,the nucleus of a mighity 'movement of spiritual renaissance, in 1953.

With the number of Chinmaya mission centres and activites increasing all over the country,it was felt that a formal organisation should be set up to co-ordinate and channelise the activities there of .

Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF)
CIF provides an opportunity to Indian and foreign scholars to understand ,exchange and conduct researches on cultural and spiritual heritage in an ambience of tradition and ADI SHANKARA'S birth place .

Balvihars
Bala vihars are weekly gatherings of children in the age group of 6 to 15 years ,who meet once a week . Here the basic ideals of good living and culture are brought home indirectly to the children, through simple songs, chants, stories, etc, in an atmosphere of love. "Keep Smiling" is their motto. 



Yuva Kendras (CHYK)
Youth is turbulent and their energy needs to be directed to creative channels. Chinmaya Yuva Kendras(CHYK)are meant to bring together the youth of 16 to 28 years in a forum for kindling spiritual/cultural awareness through study and constructive activities. They take up various socially useful activities.Musical histrionic and other artistic talents are encouraged and utilised.Their Motto is "Harnessing Youth Potential through Dynamic Spirituality". 



Vidyalayas(Schools) 
These are run at several centres either by CCMT directly or under its guidance. Besides academic inputs, they try to sow the seeds of culture in children to shape them into good citizens. Character formation, respect for elders, truthfulness are encouraged and a good sense of discipline is also instilled into the young minds.
